As the largest City in Warwickshire, (although it now lies within the West Midlands) Coventry really is the centre of the county, boasting two universities, most of the museums, and the the largest shopping centre.
The pedestrianised shopping precinct has undergone considerable change over the years as it tries to improve its image. It is never going to be really attractive, but it has a unique character, and is close to many of the older attractions such as the museums and Cathedral.
The new Coventry Cathedral, spectacular modern architecture in the shadow of the ruined older Cathedral.
Coventry boasts some magnificent parks, and Coombe Abbey on the eastern edge of the City is among the best. Based around an old manor house, now converted to an exclusive hotel, The Park has a lake, play areas and nature walk as well as plenty of parking ( pay ) and barbeque areas.
